Private Donald Reginald Schwartz, KIA 6.6.1944, 7th Light Infantry Parachute Battalion
Today we honor Private Donald Reginald Schwartz, 7th Light Infantry Para Battalion. Early 6 June 1944, the 7th LI Para Btn was so horribly misdropped in Normandy that 60% of the battalion were missing, with a few stragglers finding their way to their unit by the end of the day. Private D.R. Schwartz was one of these men whose body was never found. He was 20. It's one thing to lose a family member in combat, it's another to never have a grave to visit.
